Phoenix surveyed her clan. It was beautiful. She always wanted to be leader, and now she was. It was amazing how Starclan could do that for you. She had wished and hoped and prayed for so many seasons... And here she was, on top of the world. It was an amazing feeling, nothing could compare to it.
She knew a gathering was coming up; she needed to see who would go, and why they should go. She wasn't sure which ones were really good; so far, only one had proven worthy to represent the clan. She would think of others later, but for now, she would see what she could do.
She padded out of her den, looking to pick up a piece of prey. It didn't exactly stand out to her, but she ended up deciding on a small crow. She saw someone pad up to her, but she didn't see who.

Whitesnow made her way up to her distant looking leader. She wanted to go on a hunting patrol but she knew the gathering was coming up soon and she was really anxious to see who Phoenix would choose to go.
"Good afternoon Phoenix. I hope all is well with you." Whitesnow was in an oddly good mood for her type of personality. She wanted to be on her best behavior so that she could go to the gathering.

Phoenix smiled, and bowed her head. "Hey, Whitesnow. Don't worry, you don't have to suck up to me; you're going to the gathering," she laughed. "Well, yes, everything is well with me. And how about you? Are you enjoying yourself?" Phoenix looked into Whitesnow's eyes, something she did with every cat she looked at, whether it was enemy or friend.
I really do need others to go, though...

Startled, Whitesnow let out a nervous little sound. Somtimes she wondered about her leader because she just knew so much. "Thanks a lot, Phoenix." Whitesnow dipped her head to her leader. "I hope you take it easy. Oh, and indeed I am doing rather well. Would you like me to go hunting?" Whitesnow glimpsed up at her leader to see her eyes boring into her. She was startled once again and it made her wonder what Phoenix was thinking.

Phoenix nodded. Sure, but let's bring Deathslash too. The more, the merrier.
Besides, I need to see if her can represent the clan. She finished her crow, and walked to the entrance to the camp. She turned to see if Whitesnow was following her, or if she was finding Deathslash. I wonder where that tom is...

Whitesnow looked around the clearing, Looking for Deathslash absently. He had been missing since dawn and she wondered where he had gone off to. As if in answer to her silent question, Deathslash padded into camp with a mouse and two crows dangling from his jaws. He walked up to the fresh kill pile and dropped his catch on top proudly, glancing over at whitesnow and Phoenix smugly.
"Still sitting around are you Whitesnow? You could have been out hunting ages ago." Deathslash didn't exactly sneer at Whitesnow but he wasn't too nice either.
"I was helping the elders clean up their nests for their naps." Whitesnow protested under her breath, glaring hard at the large tom with distaste. Deathslash thought he was always better than her because he was Shadowclan born and Whitesnow wasn't. Well, if he thinks he can challenge me, then he is dead wrong.

Phoenix watched the two bicker and banter, and sighed. How was she going to take anyone to the Gathering if they couldn't even get along in their own clans? Whitesnow had earned her way in; she had done more work than Deathslash had ever. He was clanborn: an instant liking and warrior-to-be. Whitesnow had to work to gain that trust and affection from her, as well as the rest of the clan.
"C'mon, guys, how am I going to take you to the Gathering if you won't represent your clan properly? Besides, I have yet to decide if you'll go, Deathslash. Whitesnow's already guaranteed herself at the Gathering, doing the things that smugger, more prideful cats won't. Like you. Hunting is good and all, but how much is it worth it all the cats we feed are killed by bedsores?"
