Name:
Russetheart
Gender:
She-cat
Age:
19 moons
Clan:
WindClan
Rank:
Newly made warrior
Kin:
Rabbitfoot, mother; Goldenfang, father; Snaketail and Tangleheart, brothers; Lilypelt, sister
Appearance:
Russetheart is a thin, willowy she-cat. Her muscles are hard and lithe from moons of running across the plains of WindClan. From the bottom of her paws to the tips of her ears, the young feline is decorated by brown tabby stripes. Peppered amongst them are cream colored stripes. The fur beneath the stripes ranges from a dark russet color, to the red-orange of rust, to a pale orange, to an ashen gray. Perhaps her most vivid and unusual features are her eyes. They are a bold blue accented and mixed with an electric green. Cats tend to avoid those eyes, as their plain display of emotion is quite discomforting at the least.
Personality:
Loyal. If there's any quality that could define Russetheart in one word, it would be her loyal heart. She opens her heart warily and begrudgingly, but once a cat or Clan has found a home there, they have a staunch supporter for the rest of their days. In her mind, nothing is more important than those she loves. Not the most verbal of felines, she prefers to be the listening ear rather than the meowing gossiper. She has a poor grasp of social graces, and tends to just blurt whatever's on her mind at the moment it occurs. Russetheart is kind, in a roundabout way. Though the she-cat will snap and snarl, swipe at and insult other cats, she means no harm by it; that's just the way she interacts with the world. Her mentor despaired of training her, and the tabby kept a good-natured air about her whenever drilled on it, though her annoyance always showed.
History:
Born to parents Rabbitfoot and Goldenfang, Russetkit was the most sedate of her litter. Snakekit, Tanglekit- who was born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, and Lilykit were all more energetic. Rabbitfoot worried about her, but Goldenfang assured his mate that it was just a phase. He was right, and cursed the fact until the day she became a warrior.
Russetkit, after three sets of seven sunrises was tottering around with her siblings, wrestling with the thin-tailed Snakekit and pretending to be Clan cats and rogues with the brave Tanglekit. Lilykit stayed away from the others, convinced that they would ruin her beautiful creamy pelt. As a tabby, Russetkit couldn't have looked less like her parents and littermates unless she were black with orange eyes. Snakekit and Tanglekit were both solid gray cats, the former darker than the latter by a shade or two, depending on the lighting.
Despite the fact that Russetkit behaved like any other cat her age, most of the Clan couldn't stand to look her in the eye. And so, she was given as an apprentice to the only cat who could stand to make eye contact long enough to teach her what she needed to know. Her mother. Russetpaw was dismayed to find herself shackled to her mother at first, dreading being coddled and denied a true warrior's training. The opposite occured. She staggered back to the apprentice's den each night aching and sore; Rabbitfoot trained her harder than any cat had their apprentice in several generations.
Russetpaw endured ten moons of such training, when she was finally allowed to become a warrior. She pondered her name long and hard in the coming sunrises before her ceremony. Would she have a tough-sounding name, like Russetfang? Or Russetclaw? Perhaps even Russetstorm! But no, the leader had seen her loyalty and unwavering dedication to her loved ones and named her for that instead. The young she-cat was stuck with the name of Russetheart. In time, she grew to like the name and found a degree of contentment with it. It served as a symbol of her dedication to the protection and glory of her Clan. Such a name was far better than Russetfang or Russetstorm. Even Russetdeath, the name she had had her heart set on as a kit paled in comparison to the eternal reminder of who and what she was.
She was Russetheart, protector of Clan and kin.
